Bladder 13 excellent for relieving discomfort from lung conditions
Point of the Week
Bookmark and Share

This point, known to acupuncturists as Bladder 13, is located on the back an inch and a half from the spine at the lower border of the third thoracic vertebra. Like all points along the Bladder Meridian, it generally treats urinary conditions and pain of the neck and back. This point in particular is excellent for lung conditions such as cough, asthma and any other type of painful breathing difficulty. It also can treat night sweating, dryness of the mouth and tongue, and even mania caused by fever. In acupuncture theory, pain is caused by a stagnation within the Meridians (pathways circulating energy and nourishment throughout the body). The function of this point is to clear heat and stagnation from the head and chest, thus relieving pain.
