The deadline to enter into the Redwood Writers’ memoir contest is midnight, June 1.

The contest is open to residents of Sonoma, Napa, Mendocino, Marin and Lake counties. First prize is $100, second prize is $75 and third prize is $35. Winners will be announced at the Aug. 11 Redwood Writers general membership meeting at the Flamingo Hotel in Santa Rosa. For more information on this and other contests, go to www.redwoodwriters.org/contests/.

Manuscripts must be 900-2,000 words, double-spaced in 12-point Times Roman font in Microsoft Word. There is a limit of two submissions per entrant.

The entry fee is $8 per submission for California Writers Club members and $12 per submission for nonmembers. Only previously unpublished work will be considered. No online or self-published work is acceptable.

The piece may be a section of a larger work as long as it stands on its own and has not been previously published.

Submissions must be made through the online form only, by going to the website at www.redwoodwriters.org. Click on Contests and continue from there. No traditional mail submissions will be accepted. Payment may be made via PayPal on the website or by sending a check made out to Redwood Writers to P.O. Box 4687, Santa Rosa, CA 95402. Both the manuscript and the payment must be received before the entry will be forwarded on to the judges.
