|Sonoma Bach to present final concert of season May 31
For its final concert of the season, Sonoma Bach gathers all its forces – including the Sonoma Bach Choir, the Circa 1600 chamber choir, directed by Robert Worth and the Live Oak Baroque Orchestra, directed by Elizabeth Blumenstock – to perform double-choir motets by three of the many Bachs: Johann Sebastian, his great uncle Johannes and second cousin Johann Christoph.
This concert, called “Bach Family Reunion,” includes four of J.S. Bach's most famous motets, plus five works by his talented relatives.
The first performance begins at 8 p.m. on Friday, May 31, at the Saturday Afternoon Club in Santa Rosa, and the second at 8 p.m. on Saturday, June 1, at the United Church of Christ in Petaluma.
Patrons are invited to come 45 minutes early for a special "BachGrounder" lecture-demonstration on the evening's music.
Tickets for the concerts, which are $20 general admission, $18 for seniors and $12 for students, can be purchased online at sonomabach.org or by calling 877-914-2224.
