A Rohnert Park man remains in custody at Sonoma County Jail after allegedly attacking his roommate with a machete early in the morning on March 9.

Bail for Kyle Sorenson, 21, has been set at $1 million. According to a Rohnert Park Dept. of Public Safety report, officers arrived on the scene two minutes after dispatch received a 911 call at 3:44 a.m. of an assault that occurred in the 900 block of Civic Center Drive. Upon arrival, they discovered the victim, a 22-year-old man, lying on the couch in his apartment after suffering a severe laceration to the left side of his face and more severe lacerations on his leg.

The initial investigation revealed the victim and Sorenson had gotten into an argument. During the argument, Sorenson slashed the victim in the face and legs.

The gist of the argument remains unclear.

Sorenson was identified as the culprit from the victim and a third roommate.

The victim was taken to a local hospital and his condition was unknown at press time.
