Santa Rosa Junior College will present a talk by Scott Gabaldon, tribal chairman of the Mishewal Wappo Tribe of Alexander Valley. Gabaldon will speak on the struggle to have their tribal status restored by the federal government.

The event will start at 7 p.m. and run until 8:30 p.m. in Newman Auditorium on the Santa Rosa campus.

The Mishewal Wappo Tribe of Alexander Valley is the last remaining Wappo Tribe in existence, with 340 living members. Scholars have noted that the Wappo Indians are among the oldest tribes in the state of California.
