|SSU to host gun violence forum
A Sonoma State University panel will explore the issue of gun violence, particularly as it applies to college campuses from noon-1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 26, in the Student Union multi purpose room.
"What Can We Do To Curb Gun Violence?" features a panel consisting of SSU sociology professor Ben Frymer, the HUB director Mark Fabioner, interim Police Chief Sally Miller, counseling and psychological services director Lisa Wyatt and Associated Students executive vice president Anthony Gallino.
The panel will look at some of the root causes of the problem and discuss ways of addressing the issue from a sociological, psychological, public safety and race and class perspectives.
Organizers say this will not be a program about second amendment rights or a standard gun control debate, but a program where the audience is encouraged to participate, ask questions and help formulate some useful suggestions and action plans that could be utilized.
