|Cotati names Schnapp as new finance director
The City of Cotati on Feb. 14 announced the hiring of Marcia Schnapp as the new finance director. Schnapp’s first day on the job was Feb. 19.
She has experience as a finance director in both the public and private sectors. She held the position of finance director for the San Mateo County Harbor District as well as many years in banking and securities and working as a controller in the manufacturing industry. City Manager Dianne Thompson said her ability to understand both the public and the private sector will be a benefit to Cotati.
Born and raised in San Francisco, Marcia is a graduate of Lowell High School. She earned her B.A. in economics from Mills College in Oakland, and an M.B.A. in finance and technology project management from the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs. In addition, she attended the prestigious Pacific Coast Banking School of executive bank management at the University of Washington, graduating from the three-year program with honors.
She is currently pursuing the Certified Public Finance Officers (CPFO) designation from the Government Finance Officers Association.
“In Cotati, Ms. Schnapp will focus her expertise on operations and functions of the finance department, and will help build a financially sustainable future for the city,” Thompson said. “We are fortunate to have Ms. Schnapp join our team.”
