JJ Anderson, 12, of Rohnert Park decided it was finally time to see a barber. He wanted to make a difference by donating his long blonde locks to non-profit organization Locks of Love so three years ago he began growing his hair specifically to donate. At left: Cotati Barber Shop’s co-owner, Sue Williams preps his hair as mom Kim looks on. At right: JJ’s new “do” after Williams cut off four ponytails about 17 inches each. He donated his locks in honor of Cotati philanthropist, Roy Moss, who passed away in May from stage IV colon cancer. Pictured next to JJ is Moss’s wife, Tija. Locks of Love creates hairpieces for children suffering from the effects of chemotherapy, alopecia areata, or recuperating from scalp burns. It takes seven ponytails to make one child-size hairpiece.
