Lawrence Jones Middle School's seventh-grade volleyball team was unable to parlay its blazing start into a victory over the RLS Blue Devils in the playoff semifinal on Wednesday afternoon in Rohnert Park.

The Lady Jaguars, behind the strong serving of Talia Guerrero, won the first set 25-9. Guerrero scored seven straight points for the Lady Jaguars. Caitlin Cazares also delivered six straight service points for LJMS in the first game.

The second game and third games went to RLS, with the final score in the third being 16-14.

"It was a sad ending but looking at the entire season, the girls were amazing," coach Donna McKenna said. "Many of them were complete beginners, and they have come so far. I can't wait to coach this team as eighth graders next year."
