Flying Eagles Jazz Band to play at Cross and Crown on Feb. 12

The Flying Eagles Jazz Band will be playing at the Cross and Crown Lutheran Church and School on “Shrove Tuesday” (that would be Fat Tuesday – Feb. 12 – for most lay people, or, for the French, Mardi Gras). The band will be playing between 5-7 p.m.

The band plays traditional jazz from the Original Dixieland Jazz Band to King Oliver, and from Fats Waller to a more modern-style Dixieland made famous by Kenny Ball.

The band also plays slow blues favorites, up-tempo Dixieland classics, 1930s-1940s popular swing and popular modern tunes. This band keeps the toes tapping if you are not on the dance floor. So, if you know how to “cut a rug,” then come on Shrove Tuesday.

Admission is $8 and includes the music and a menu of pancakes, sausage, bacon, juice and coffee. Tickets can be purchased at the door.

The event is a fundraiser for the Cross and Crown Lutheran School. The school is located at 5475 Snyder Lane, corner of Southwest Blvd and Snyder Lane. The school includes toddlers, preschool, kindergarten, junior kindergarten and elementary grades 1-6. For more information, call 795-7863.
