|Lecturers to speak at SSU on tech impact
How growing technology influences social responsibility and individual privacy is the subject of two upcoming lectures by video game expert Jason Shankel and Eva Galperin of the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) at Sonoma State University.
Tackling the topic of violent computer games on Thursday, Jan. 31, writer, coder, filmmaker and game developer Shankel is a game designer for a company that is part of Electronic Arts.
He is intimately familiar with “First-Person Shooter” and other games of a violent nature such as Call of Duty, Grand Theft Auto, and numerous others.
Galperin is the International Freedom of Expression Coordinator at EFF, an organization that defends the rights of individuals in a growing digital world.
Her Feb. 7 talk at noon in Salazar 2016 focuses on state-sponsored surveillance software being used to target journalists, dissidents, and protestors.
