LJMS spikers sweep Healdsburg
Both the Lawrence Jones Middle School 7th- and 8th-grade volleyball teams won road games at Healdsburg on Nov. 29.
The 7th-graders won in two sets 25-22, 25-22 on the strength of the serving of Camille Spackman and Natalie Guerrero.
The Jaguars’ 8th-grade team also beat Healdsburg in two sets, 25-12, 25-18.

Rei Rei Peleti led a serving barrage by going 16 for 16 at the service line, while Marissa Hall and Taylor Del Santo were perfect 7 for 7 and 5 for 5 at the line, respectively. Kaela Velles added five service aces to the Jaguars’ cause.

“There was great communication on the court and the second set ended with an amazing bump, set, KABOOM by Kaela Velles,” coach Donna McKenna said. “Rei Rei had four tip kills, and Kaela Velles had three kills at the net. Great defense by Jaxen Brazell, Janaea Mason, Kaela Velles and Marissa Hall rounded out a great team effort.

Windsor topples LJMS
The Lawrence Jones Middle School 7th- and 8th-grade volleyball; teams played hard from start to finish but were unable to get past Windsor as both teams lost in two sets.

Natalie Guerrero had a solid game serving and passing for the 7th-grade squad, which lost 25-10, 25-4 to the strong Windsor side.

In the 8th grade match, one particular player for Windsor served so well, the Lady Jaguars were unable to establish any rhythm in their offense in a 25-10, 25-19 loss.

“We strived valiantly to pass the top spin serves  but we failed in the first game,” McKenna said.

Jaxen Brazell was the standout Lady Jaguar in this game, according to McKenna. She served 100 percent from the line, 12 for 12 with three aces. She also played a solid defensive game, throwing her body on the floor for many spectacular saves.

“Kaela Velles was our best passer of the night and our best hitter with four kills and  three more awesome hits,” McKenna said.
