With Irish tunes and ballads, plus a hearty stew of interesting characters "A Couple of Blaguards" is a rollicking, funny, musical cabaret show recounting Frank and Malachy McCourt's life in poverty-stricken Limerick, Ireland and their journey to Brooklyn, N.Y.

Professional actors Tim Kniffin and Steven Abbott portray the McCourt brothers and a collection of characters from relatives to rogues, fools and petty tyrants.

“A Couple of Blaguards" provides the humorous upside to Frank McCourt’s best selling novel "Angela's Ashes."
The two-man play, written before either brother published their first novels, features classic storytelling, live music by the YouKali Celtic Band, poignant vignettes and Irish tradition as it follows the young McCourt brothers from Ireland to America and tells how they learned to apply lessons from their hardscrabble past to their new lives.

The play runs from Dec. 31-Jan. 20 at Cinnabar Theater in Petaluma.

Showtimes are 9 p.m. on Dec. 31, 8 p.m. on Jan. 4, 5, 11, 12, 18 and 19, and 2 p.m. on Jan. 6, 13 and 20. Tickets range from $25-$35.
