Free rabies vaccinations for dogs scheduled throughout county
Bookmark and Share

State and local laws require dogs over four months of age to be vaccinated against rabies every three years and licensed each year. Sonoma County Animal Care and Control has partnered with VIP PetCare to offer free rabies vaccinations for dogs.

Free rabies vaccinations will be offered at VIP PetCare mobile clinics during the month of October, 2012, at the following Sonoma County locations:

• Oct. 17, 5-7 p.m., Tractor Supply, 1000 American Way, Windsor;

• Oct. 20, 3:30-5 p.m., Pet Club, 1935 Santa Rosa Ave., Santa Rosa;

• Oct. 21, 9:30-11:30 a.m., Western Farm Center, 21 W. 7th St., Santa Rosa.

Getting a dog license provides instant proof of vaccination and also keeps dogs safe by providing an effective way to quickly identify its owner should the pet be lost or injured.

To purchase a license,  go to Sonoma County Animal Care and Control at 1247 Century Court in Santa Rosa, Tuesday through Saturday, noon - 5:30 p.m.

The license application is also available online at www.theanimalshelter.org and may be mailed in with a copy of the dog’s vaccination certificate, spay/neuter certificate (if applicable) and appropriate fee. The license fee varies depending on whether or not the dog is spayed or neutered.

Dog owners age 62 and over also receive a significant discount.
