| Carreras scores twice; RC soccer team blanks Windsor |
Juan Carreras put two balls into the back of the net in leading Rancho Cotate boys’ soccer team to an emphatic 3-1 home victory over Santa Rosa on Tuesday, Oct. 9.
Alan Andrade added the other goal as the Cougars improved to 9-2-3 overall and 5-2-1 in the North Bay League.
Eduardo Rodriguez had a pair of assists for the Cougars while Alvaro Lopez had one.
Rancho Cotate 2, Windsor 0
Roy Boateng and Eduardo Rodriguez helped Rancho Cotate’s soccer team rebound from a loss to Casa Grande of Petaluma by scoring goals in a 2-0 victory over host Windsor on Oct. 4.
Goalkeeper Danny Ortiz made those goals stand up with a stellar performance between the pipes. Boateng’s goal came in the first half, while Rodriguez got his in the second to give the Cougars a little breathing room.
Rancho Cotate is in third place in the NBL behind unbeaten Maria Carrillo and 5-1-1 Casa Grande.
The Cougars play a home game against Montgomery on Tuesday, Oct. 18. Kickoff is at 6 p.m.
Rancho Cotate also was host to Cardinal Newman on Oct. 11. Details of that contest were unavailable at press time.
