| County animal shelter offers dog, cat adoptions for $25 |
From now until Sept. 29, Sonoma County Animal Shelter will have dogs and cats 2 months and older available for $25, plus the cost of a license if applicable.
“The adoption event is a fun way to engage potential adopters as they prepare for the start of another school year,” says Cathy McCafferty, shelter supervisor. McCafferty continues by stating, “September is typically a slow period for animal adoptions around the country, and we want to help our animals, many of whom have been here the entire summer, find the homes they deserve.”
The goal of the event is to "find permanent, loving homes for all animals in the shelter before the end of summer."
The event will feature different promotions every week such as:
• Sept. 4-8: Rush Week – rush on in to receive a free dog or cat toy with every adoption.
• Sept. 11-15: Fill Your Empty Nest – with each adoption, the pet owner will be entered in a raffle to win a gift basket.
• Sept. 18 - 22: Meet the Class of 2012 – there will be volunteers on hand with many of adoptable animals to meet one on one.
• Sept. 25-29: “Bark” to School Week – Bark at the staff to receive an additional $5 off any adoption.
Sonoma County Animal Care and Control is open from noon-5:30 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday For more information, visit www.theanimalshelter.org or call 707-565-7100.
