| RC boys continue unbeaten streak |
It looks as if the Rancho Cotate High boys’ soccer team is ready for its North Bay League opener against the Windsor Jaguars on Tuesday, Sept. 11.
The Cougars remained unbeaten this season by knocking off Healdsburg and Elsie Allen of Santa Rosa on Aug. 30 and Sept. 4, respectively. They also played San Rafael to a 1-1 draw on Aug. 31. Rancho Cotate now stands at 5-0-1 heading into the NBL opener, scheduled for 6 p.m. at Cougar Stadium.
Following its match with the Jaguars, the Cougars will be on the road on Sept. 13 for a league match with Santa Rosa.
Rancho Cotate 4,
Healdsburg 1
Four different Cougars reached the back of the net in a dominating victory over the Greyhounds in Healdsburg.
Alvaro Lopez, Juan Carreras, Michael Tafollo and Eduardo Rodriguez all scored. Carreras also added an assist, and Ray Boeteng also assisted on a goal.
Rancho Cotate 2,
Elsie Allen 1
Allan Andrade scored the deciding goal for the Cougars in the second half against their former NBL foes, the Lobos. Tafollo had the first goal for Rancho Cotate in the first half.
Elsie Allen was moved from the NBL to the Sonoma County League primarily because it, along with Piner, was unable to compete with other NBL teams in football.
