AARP Foundation's Tax-Aide program is now recruiting Sonoma and Napa county volunteers to prepare 2012 returns in January, February, March and through April 15, 2013. Volunteers must donate approximately 20 hours in January 2013 for training and a minimum of four hours per each of the 11 weeks of tax season. No previous tax return preparation experience is required, although volunteers should be comfortable with numbers and helping people of middle to low income. New recruits will be partnered with experienced counselors.

Volunteers should sign up online at www.aarp.org/taxaide and will be contacted by local recruiters in October through December 2012. An e-mail address is required but personal laptops are not. Additional information and links to YouTube Videos is available at irs.gov in Tax Tip 2012-23.
