The City of Cotati on Wednesday announced the hiring of Micah Hinkle as its new assistant city manager, effective Sept. 17.
Hinkle comes to Cotati from the City of Napa, where he worked as the senior development project coordinator responsible for special projects and business ombudsman services.

From 2006 to 2012, he managed some of Napa’s most complex development and capital improvement projects, which include the Napa Valley Ritz Carlton Hotel, Avia (Hyatt) Hotel, Riverfront mixed use development, and the Napa County Flood Control Project. During his tenure within Napa, he was involved in private and capital improvement projects totaling more than $250 million. As the City of Napa’s business ombudsman, Hinkle managed business outreach and problem resolution for both existing and new businesses.

Prior to joining the City of Napa, Hinkle was a city planner for the City of San Rafael, where he worked on major commercial, residential, and mixed use projects.

Throughout his career, he has worked in all major city development departments including planning, economic development, public works, redevelopment, and community development.

He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Sonoma State University with a double major in Economics and Environmental Studies and Planning.

In Cotati, Hinkle’s duties will be focused on economic development, including business retention and business attraction.
