| Sculpture, bricks part of RP’s 50th anniversary plans |
The Rohnert Park Cultural Arts Commission is eagerly anticipating the installation of a work of public art in the Civic Center to commemorate the Friendly City’s 50th anniversary.
Patrick Amiot, a renowned local artist, has been appointed to create a 14-foot sculpture representing Waldo Emerson Rohnert, whose development of a seed farm in Sonoma County in the early 1930s led to the establishment of Rohnert Park in 1962. The sculpture will be erected near the Civic Center.
The Commission invites residents and businesses to support the art installation by purchasing customized bricks to be placed near the new sculpture in the Civic Center.
A 4-inch-by-8-inch brick, with or without clipart, is $100, and an 8-inch-by-8-inch brick is $250. Businesses may also purchase the larger bricks with a company logo for $350. To design and purchase a personalized commemorative brick, go to www.rp50.org.
Honor the memory of a loved one, show your support for Rohnert Park, or celebrate a special event in 2012. Only a limited number of customized bricks can be installed, so the commission encourages early orders.
