Boys & Girls Clubs hosts day for girls

More than ever before, local girls need the support and mentoring of community women leaders. Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Sonoma County is fulfilling this need by offering a one-day event that will match up 100 women with 100 of their Club girls for a few hours of lighthearted games and activities. Girls Day is only $25 per woman and will take place Sept. 29 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at Santa Rosa Junior College.

This experience will expose young women to a variety of female leaders who will inspire them to grow up to be caring, productive, responsible women.  In addition, funds generated through Girls Day help the club offer character education programs to young women all year long.

“We are extremely proud to be leading the efforts in providing opportunities for meaningful interactions between adults and youth in need,” said Jennifer Weiss, co-CEO of Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Sonoma County.

Register for Girls Day at www.bgccsc.org. The event is limited to the first 100 registered women.

Upcoming opportunities to support Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Sonoma County include:

• The 20th annual ‘Be Great’ golf fundraiser on Sept. 6 at Windsor Golf Course with an 18-hole scramble, lunch, prizes, dinner and live auction.

• “Staples For Students”: All school supplies dropped off at Staples in Santa Rosa before Sept. 15 will be given to kids who need them most for the new school year.
