| Indy Cars invade Sonoma Raceway |
Andretti Autosports teammates James Hinchcliffe, left, and Marco Andretti will be two of the competitors when the Izod Indy Car series comes to the Sonoma Raceway for the eighth consecutive year from Aug. 24-26. Changes this year facing the teams and drivers are new cars with new bodywork and engines. The Sonoma track has also undergone reconfiguration of the track itself.
Three turns on the track, 7, 9, and 11 have been modified and will be used for the first time on a race weekend. The hope is it will provide better opportunities for passing and a better show for the spectators. Formula Car challenge races and SCCA World Challenge series cars will also take part in the racing action all three days. On Sunday, prerace activities will include an Air Show with the Patriot Jet team.
