WEB EXCLUSIVE: Cotati levies water/sewage assessments on two properties
Bookmark and Share

The Cotati City Council at its meeting on Wednesday night approved a resolution to levy assessments on two properties because of unpaid final water and sewage bills. The resolution ordered the city clerk to send the notice of assessment to the Sonoma County Assessor/Auditor.

The combined amount of the two bills is $1,411.12. According to a report by city staff, over the last several years there has been an increase in the number of properties with unpaid final water/sewer bills and without forwarding information. As the Cotati Municipal Code only allows for the recording of delinquent sewer charges and penalties, the past due water charges have not been included in the amounts proposed for assessment.

The Administrative Services Dept. has invoiced one of the property owners for their sewer charges every two months at the same time as all other water/sewer customers in Cotati. For the other property, repeated attempts for billing information have been ignored.
