| Cotati Mayor John Guardino resigns |
In a surprise move Cotati Mayor John Guardino has resigned from the city council to accept a federal grant funded job on an proposed experimental
farm in rural Sonoma County. The position would require living in a rural home near the project.
Taking over the mayoral post will be vice-Mayor Robert Coleman-Senghor. "I know John's been working on this agricutural project for about a year and all the pieces finally came together this past week," said Coleman-Senghor. "We have 30 days to decide whether to appoint someone to fill the council seat or hold a special election. "If we appoint someone they can be quickly seated on the council. I see no sense in holding a special election, we're already involved (Barich recall Nov. 17) in one and they're very expensive." Coleman-Senghor emphasized Guardino's resignation had "absolutely nothing to do with the recall election."
