Sonoma State University’s School of Business and Economics is hosting the 2012 Innovation Showcase on June 1.

The showcase will highlight the region’s hottest success stories and feature the four finalists of the North Bay iHub’s second annual Business Plan Competition.  James Kovach, a seven-year NFL veteran and serial entrepreneur, will speak on the journey from ideation to commercialization and what lies ahead for the North Bay’s innovation ecosystem.

The showcase begins at 2:30 p.m. with an Expo of 10-12 successful entrepreneurial companies and the opportunity to learn about their journey, their inspiration, and what has made them successful.  At the same time, those who register early will be paired with entrepreneurial and community leaders for some one-on-one mentoring.

Dean William Silver notes, “The North Bay has a number of great companies that are part of our innovation ecosystem.  The Innovation Showcase is an opportunity to raise the awareness of these companies in our community and to celebrate their success.”

The afternoon will culminate with public presentations from the four finalists from the 2012 Business Plan Competition, a contest to help entrepreneurs build business-planning skills and develop promising ideas that began in early March.  Mobile text voting will enable the audience to select the best pitch.

The reception following will offer an opportunity to talk with these entrepreneurs, as well as community leaders about the region’s opportunities.

The Innovation Showcase takes place from 2:30 – 6:30 p.m. at Ives Hall on the SSU campus.  Admission is $25 per person. Register at
