Sunday, April 29, marks Rohnert Park’s first Pet Adopt-a-thon and Wellness Fair. There is no admission fee, and it is open to well-socialized dogs on leash, and runs from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at 5800 Commerce Blvd.

There will be 6 North Bay rescue groups with pets that need loving homes. Local vendors will feature handcrafted wares and dog-themed jewelry and clothes. Nutritionists and holistic care veterinarians will show owners how to improve their pet’s life.

Marla Steele will talk with the animals, and North Bay Positive Dog Trainers will demonstrate agility training and nose work.
Retired Globetrotter Jerry Smith, Marta Williams and Jonny Justice (a former Michael Vick dog) with owner Cris Cohen are guest judges for the Pet Parade at noon.

The first 100 children/adults who register before noon may participate by dressing up or showing off their pets’ talents to win a prize. The parade at 2:15 p.m. features adoptable pets eager to find homes. Readers of the Pack therapy dogs will be waiting for children to read to them at 11a.m. and 1 p.m.
