|Man rescued from rising creek waters
A transient camping along Cotati Creek behind Rancho Feliz Mobile Home Park was rescued from rising waters by RP police Tuesday morning.
Keith Honeycutt, 41, was camping along the creeks when he awoke to find water just inches from his head Tuesday morning. RP Public Safety received a 911 call at 9:27 a.m. transferred from the CHP, likely placed from a cell phone, reporting a man trapped between thickets and the rising waters of the creek.
The water was at least 6 feet deep in places and had swept away his tent and belongings. RP fire and police units responded and cut through the thickets, allowing Honeycutt to walk away from the creek unscathed. He refused medical treatment.
Camping is illegal in Rohnert Park, but Honeycutt was let off with a warning “and hopefully learned a more valuable lesson about our creek systems and rising rapid moving waters,” said RP police.
