Just in case you didn’t know about it already, Bark for Life of Rohnert Park and Cotati is putting the finishing touches on their 2013 calendar. The voting deadline is midnight Saturday, April 14, and the number to call is 479-4772.  You’ll be in touch with Russell Event Photography and can look at 17 dogs that are the finalists for the 12-month calendar.  Or better yet, go to Russelleventphotography.com and hit the “like” button at your choice.

This is the third annual Bark for Life calendar project, and proceeds, as always, go to the American Cancer Society and their Relay for Life event this summer. The calendars of prize-winning canines will be ready the third week in June.

That’s not all. Friar Tuck’s Leprechauns for a Cure will be hosting a Bunco for a Cure Tournament and Mothers’ Day shopping party Saturday, April 28, in their bar/restaurant in downtown Cotati. The party starts at noon, and a $25 donation gets you a seat in the Bunco tournament, door prize ticket, light refreshments, prizes for most Bunco wins, most losses and a prize to the Bunco survivor with the most wins.

In between games, a long list of vendors will have suggestions for Mothers’ Day presents or upcoming birthdays and weddings. All proceeds will go to American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life. For more details, call Bark for Life co-chair Pam Wittner at 888-7280 or pamwittner@hotmail.com.

Then on Saturday, May 19, Friar Tuck’s Leprechauns for a Cure will stage a Battling Cancer with the Bands concert along with Maggie May’s Marauders in the Cotati club and restaurant from noon to 7 p.m. It’s a kickoff party for Bark for Life. Call 792-9847 for details.

The big event is the American Cancer Society’s Bark for Life, to be held in La Plaza Park in Cotati. The date is Saturday, July 21, with canine check-ins beginning at 8 a.m. More details on this annual dog and dog owner bash will be forthcoming.
