REFB launches food drive

To help the one in six Sonoma County residents struggling with hunger, the Redwood Empire Food Bank (REFB) launched its annual Winter Food and Funds Drive.

The drive runs through January 31.

The Food Bank relies on community donations to feed 78,000 people every month.

During the Winter Food and Funds Drive, food donation barrels can be found at the following grocery stores: Safeway, Oliver’s Markets, Walgreens, and CVS/Pharmacy, and throughout the year at G&G Supermarkets, Whole Foods Markets; and Grocery Outlet in Santa Rosa.

To hold a food and funds drive, learn what the most needed food items are, or to donate funds, interested parties can call the Redwood Empire Food Bank, 707-523-7902 ext. 27. The Food Bank recommends that those wishing to have the greatest impact with their donations contribute funds, because the REFB can purchase food at wholesale prices.

It’s also easy to sign up virtually to hold a drive, visit the REFB online at www.refb.org. Requests for information or donations can be mailed to the REFB, 3320 Industrial Drive, Santa Rosa, CA, 95403.
