Development only helps developers; it does nothing for serious residents and those of us who simply wish to live in peace. Sewer fees and water costs have gone sky high, we do not have the water resources to maintain our quality of life and build the Rohnertian clone that Lisa and Pat are planning. One must ask why has this council thrown in its lot with the corporations, how can you trust the pair who turned our precious wet land into Lowe's and put a Starbucks in front of our bookstore? We do not need those who ride the corporate gravy train.
One thing that all Cotati voters should be aware of is that Prop. 218 which prevented municipalities from raising water or sewer rate without first notifying each voter by mail was totally ignored by the current council. Under Prop. 218, all of our rate hikes in this manner were illegal. Look up Virjil. R39 Cal 4th. P205 Bighorn Desert View Vs Water Agency; Supreme Court June 24, 2006, gives voters the right to put a referendum on the ballot to reduce sewer and water rates to any previous level. Cotatians can follow the lead of a citizen's group in Rohnert Park who are suing their city for reversal of their illegal rate hikes,
Cotatians must follow suit and take these illegally high fees from our backs, preserve our water and force further costs upon developers where they belong. As for the ludicrous claim of Lisa Moore that she wants to preserve Tiger Salamanders, I seriously doubt that she even knows what an eft is or that she has never seen a Tiger Salamander and would probably call animal control if one appeared in her back yard. Enough Bs. Vote for only one candidate and vote for John Guardino.
