June 7, 2013William Barton Gelvin, born on Nov. 10, 1960, passed away quietly at his home in Santa Rosa on May 27, 2013. He was 52 years old and survived by his three daughters, Virginia Gelvin, Rebecca Gelvin, both of Rohnert Park, and Jolene Mata, of Puente Grande, Jalisco, Mexico, son-in-Laws Fermin Mata and Mike Cook, two grandchildren, Ruben Diego and Jenica Josephine Rose Mata-Gelvin of Puente Grande, Jalisco, Mexico and the mother of his children Annette Gelvin, of Rohnert Park. He also leaves behind his mother, Karen Garcia ,of Battle Creek Mich., his siblings Stacy Spriggs of Santa Rosa, Tracy Mora of Lake County, Terry Lee Smith and Edward Garcia of Battle Creek, and Jesse Spriggs of Nashville. He was preceded in death by William Barton Gelvin Sr., his biological father, and Terry Lloyd Spriggs, who raised him since he was two.
He also is survived by longtime companion Brenda Bonkowski and her two sons R.J. and Aaron Antonio of Santa Rosa, his father- and mother-in-law Jaime and Lorraine Llopis of Rohnert Park, and the extended Llopis Family. William, better known as Bill, was a long-time Sonoma County resident and will be missed by many friends and family. He was an avid San Francisco Giants and San Francisco 49ers fan. He enjoyed four-wheeling in his trucks with his son-in-laws and playing baseball with his grandson and always having a well-supplied stock of gumballs for his granddaughter. A celebration of his life was held for close friends and family on Sunday June 2.
