|Daniel ‘Dan’ Logue|
April 12, 2013A Funeral Mass and Reception for Daniel ”Dan” Logue, will be held Friday April 26 at 11 am in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Cotati.
Stricken with colon cancer, Logue died March 30 at the age of 81.
For longtime Rohnert Park residents, Logue is best remembered as the city’s chief building inspector. He was hired by City Manager Pete Callinan in 1973.
“Those were the boom years, the seventies and eighties, homes in B, C and D sections, schools were crowded with kids on double sessions and we had this trio of guys in city hall doing the needed work,” remembers Callinan. “Dan, Ron Brust, city engineer and Paul Skanchy, planning director – they did it all.
“Dan was a great guy to work with and had a good sense of humor in those busy, busy days.”
Logue was always active in local athletics, played football at Santa Rosa Junior College and for 21 years coached Pop Warner football teams in RP. He also served three years with the U.S. Navy just after the end of WW2.
Born in Turlock, his parents bought a chicken ranch in Sebastopol and young Dan graduated from Analy High School. He was always involved in the building trades and stayed as RP chief building inspector until he retired in 1994. His photo always hung in the planning department in the old city hall and probably is still hanging somewhere in the new city hall.
He also was a lifelong fan of the 49ers and the Giants.
Survivors include his son, Terry Logue of RP, Kevin Logue of Fair Oaks, Kathleen Beltz of RP and Tom Logue of Santa Rosa.
He’s also suvived by his sister, Rose Hand of Santa Barbara, 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions can be made to the SRJC Foundation Football Scholarship Fund or the Rohnert Park-Cotati Youth Football & Cheer, P.O. Box 214, Cotati CA 94931.
