Rohnert Park Ė Dorothy E. Hunter, age 71, passed away at her home, surrounded by her family, on Monday, November 26, 2012. She was born in Bad Axe, Michigan, on May 25, 2012, a daughter of James and Mildred (Whear) Haley. She was united in marriage to Donald M. Hunter, Sr. on March 23, 1964. Dorothy was a dedicated military wife, traveling with her husband and raising four children starting in Wurtsmith Air Force Base, and continuing thoughout the states to end up at Hamilton Air Force Base upon Donaldís Retirement. They spent retirement in Sonoma County, where Dorothy was an active member of St. Johnís United Methodist Church in Rohnert Park.
She was an avid Aís fan and a nurturing and involved grandmother. Dorothy set a wonderful example of human kindness, acceptance and inclusion. Her tender heart touched everybody she met.
She is survived by four children, Donald M. (Silvia) Hunter of Fayetteville, NC, Karen (Ernie) Coe of Janesville, CA, Tracy (Sjors) Egberts of Forestville, CA and Cyndy (Andy) Gilbert of Corning, CA; grandchildren, Kesler (Tiffany) Craig, Mikenna Dehnert, Stefanie Goldsberry, Cody Mariani, Jaydin Gilbert, Nathan, Joey, and Zachary Hunter, and James, Casey, and Joey Craig; great grandchildren, Boston and Journey Craig; and a sister, Mary Miller of Bad Axe, MI.
She was preceded in death by her husband; and three brothers, Carl, Jimmy and Charlie.
Memorial services will be held at 1:30pm on Saturday, December 22, 2012 at St. Johnís Methodist Church 5150 Snyder Lane, Rohnert Park.
